Yesterday, July 22, TODAY, IBM was laying off hundreds of collaborators at its Tampines plant over the last few months

IBM staff and subcontractors said that today, at least 200 people were fired. In fact, they revealed that few rounds of layoffs have occurred in recent months.
The first and second layoffs took place in May and June respectively and a third round will take place at the end of July.
It is estimated that there are about 400 to 600 people working in the Tampines plant.
When contacted, IBM is content to say that this move is part of its "ongoing review of the most efficient way of sourcing"
A local IBM engineer, who did not wish to be named, said that about 30 to 40% of the total staff were laid off
