KUALA LUMPURDatuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor revealed that he had been recalled 12 times in the last six months by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for dubious land deals in federal territories.
The former Minister of the Federal Territories said he had noted several quarters claiming that he had not been prosecuted despite 97 dubious land deals that would have taken place during his tenure as minister.
"Many people have said that the MACC has never asked me questions. But for your information, I've been called 12 times so far.
"And I told them what I know," he told Dewan Rakyat here today.
Tengku Adnan said this before he put a supplementary question to outgoing minister Khalid Abdul Samad during the question-and-answer session, after he had made several revelations about land deals between 2013 and May 2018.
The deputy from Putrajaya also maintained the innocence over the dubious agreements, saying that land issues in the federal territories had been referred to the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) when he took office as minister.
"For your information, I entrusted all land issues to the JPM when I became minister in 2013. So I have nothing to do with a single land agreement here," he said.
Tengku Adnan also challenged Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras), who had earlier accused the first to allow the conclusion of dubious agreements without open tender, to reiterate his statement to the August House.
"This is an accusation. If you want to accuse me, blame me out (the Dewan Rakyat). Then I will sue you, "he threatened.
At the same time, Khalid revealed that the ministry had managed to recover 149 million rand from the developers for 15 of the 97 land deals concluded with an area of 145.79 acres, after the renegotiation.
In addition, 14 transactions involving 53.98 acres of land were canceled as a result of an agreement with the proponents.
"In total, 20 projects have been completed. As a result, we (the ministries) can not do anything and will leave it to the MACC, while five others have not reached an agreement. The case was therefore brought to court. "He said, adding that the ministry had found no wrongdoing in the remaining transactions.
Khalid, however, noted that the MACC was still conducting its own investigations of the 97 land deals.
