Jamal pleads not guilty to charge of police escape – Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno politician, Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos, pleaded not guilty to a charge of leakage into custody.

Jamal – who called for the trial at the attack Thursday (July 5) – said he had thought that he had already done the pre-trial process well, and that he had not done so well. he thought there was no other instructions to follow for him.

Police launched a manhunt after it was discovered that he was missing from his service at Ampang Puteri Hospital on May 25th.

He appeared in Ampang District Court Thursday at approximately 5:55 pm

His defense lawyer, Izzat Amir, stated that Jamal had fled custody without completing the bail process because of a communication problem

. a term of imprisonment of up to two years, a fine or both on conviction.

No bail was granted for Jamal and the case was set for July 30th.

He has since been transferred to Sungai Buloh Prison and will remain there until the case is brought up.

The prosecution team consists of Datuk Razali Che Ani, Mahadhir Mohd Khairuddin and Faten Hadni Khairuddin.

Jamal was arrested while he was having his hair cut in Jakarta on July 2nd. He had been taken to the Ampang Courts Complex directly after his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Thursday.

It is the subject of an investigation for at least six offenses, including the creation of a public nuisance by smashing bottles of alcohol to protest the Better Beer festival at the building of the Selangor State Secretariat on October 5th.

June 1 for the offense of escape or resistance to police custody.
