– The Scrambler will be the first Jeep pick-up for almost 30 years.

– Will be based on the new generation Wrangler.

– Heavily loaded mules are tests in progress

Although Jeep has not yet released an official word, the organizers of the Los Angeles Auto Show confirmed the launch of the Jeep Pickup at the show later this month. This will be the first Jeep pickup for almost 30 years and will be based on the new generation Wrangler JL.

The documents disclosed during the FCA presentation reveal that the Pickup will feature an authentic Jeep design, 15 class-exclusive innovations, next-generation security technology, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, in addition to of all-terrain and real Jeep trucks. However, there is no confirmation yet that Pickup is nicknamed Scrambler. We expect it to be similar in size to a Chevrolet Colorado or Toyota Tacoma, competing in the mid-size pickup category.

The test mule is still heavily lined, but we know that the pickup style will be identical to that of the Wrangler with a double cab configuration. It should be based on a modified Wrangler Unlimited long wheelbase platform, with a similar style to the front and a traditional Jeep style at the rear. The truck bed with the spare wheel will have supports similar to those of the Ram 1500. Even the suspension will come from the Dodge. The fascia will be similar to the Wrangler, but the rear – with the truck's body – will have a newly designed bumper with a new hatchback.

The scrambler's power supply (if it retains that name) will have the same powertrain options as the Wrangler. This means that under the hood is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 producing 280 hp., Apart from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine developing 265 hp. Meanwhile, the oil burner would be the 3.0-liter V6, but is expected to debut later. The transmission would be an eight-speed automatic and a hybrid will likely be added later.
