(THE NEW STAR / ASIA NETWORK) – Most chefs work long hours. Sixteen-hour days are the norm and some leaders have even been called to call a 12-hour day a short.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a group of chefs together in one piece, simply because most of them do not have time to meet, except when the biennial WorldBefs Congress & Expo is in question.

Worldchefs is a worldwide network of more than 100 associations of chefs founded in 1928 with the famous French chef Auguste Escoffier as honorary president. The network is an authority on food and aims to make an impact through education, events and competitions, and humanitarian and sustainability initiatives

The Worldchefs Congress & Expo was launched 90 years ago years. It has since undergone a radical transformation since the 2012 edition and now includes famous speakers in its line-up. The event is eagerly awaited as it offers a rare opportunity for F & B leaders and influencers to network and learn from each other.

This year's Worldchefs & Expo 2018 Biennial Congress will be held at KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. 4,000 great chefs from 105 countries, 200 exhibitors and 20 illustrious speakers


The Taiwanese chef Andre Chiang

Among them, André Chiang, chef-founder of Restaurant André , two Michelin stars (which he closed last February), will deliver an opening speech. Chiang will talk about his famous "octophilosophy" or the eight elements that make up his meals.

Another keynote speaker at the event will be "Demon Chief" Alvin Leung, the executive chef of the Bo Innovation Star Restaurant in Hong Kong. Leung is an emphatic personality who will talk about how chefs can successfully manage their own restaurants.


Dutch Chief Edgar Buhrs

Peter Kuruvita, Australian TV Chef and Personality, Rick Chee, CEO of the Food Aid Foundation, Edgar Buhrs, Dutch popular leader, and Charles Carroll, former president of Worldchefs, will also be present.

the highly anticipated Global Chefs Challenge. Over the last year, chefs from more than 70 countries competed for a place in the final, and now they will sharpen their knives, ready to fight for the coveted first prize.
