The fire that destroyed a house in Little India Friday was probably caused by a bicycle that was loaded
A spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said that Preliminary investigations revealed that at 82 Sing Avenue was originally from the bicycle, which would have been outside the house at the time.
The fire was reported to the SCDF just before 9 pm Friday and it took about an hour to the fire department
In total, 14 fire-fighting vehicles and support were participated in the operation, and at its peak, seven water jets were used to control it.
Residents of Sing Avenue and neighboring Rangoon Lane were evacuated with the assistance of the police
The Straits Times reported that the occupants of the house were on the edge of the road while firefighters were fighting the fire. Among them was a senior couple
. Their son told reporters that they had heard an explosion while they were in a room upstairs and that the fire had started outside the living room [19659008].

It has already been reported that there were 16 fires involving bicycles and personal mobility devices between January and April of this year. It was also reported that there had been 40 fires involving electric scooters last year, up from nine in 2016.
The SCDF spokesman said: "SCDF would like to remind members of the public that these fires can be avoided by observing the fire safety advice on the load (such devices).
"Let's all do our part for a fire-free environment."
