Meditation could slow down glaucoma progression, say scientists

MThe editing could prevent or slow down the main form of blindness, suggests a new study.

Glaucoma, which affects 500,000 people in Britain, occurs when an accumulation of pressure in the eye compresses the optic nerve.

However, until now, scientists have not considered that the pressure could be caused by stress.

When scientists asked 45 patients with glaucoma to try mindfulness meditation for one hour a day for three weeks, they found that the pressure in their eyes dropped by 25% compared to patients who were eye drops.
