SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 64-year-old man who allegedly threw metal projectiles into an industrial building using catapults.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, July 11, police reported receiving a report. On July 6, someone had damaged a window panel in an industrial building at Bukit Batok Crescent.
It is believed that the damage was caused by a metal projectile found on the scene.
Police officers from the Jurong Police Division subsequently identified the suspect before arresting him on July 9 for possession of an offensive instrument, reckless act and mischief.
A total of 75 metal shots, two catapults and an improvised rubber band, which the police suspected of being used to commit the offense, were seized.
According to preliminary investigations, the man may have been involved in at least 10 similar cases since 2014 in the Bukit Batok area.
Investigations are in progress.
If he is found guilty of unthinking act, the man can be imprisoned up to six months, sentenced to a fine of up to S $ 2,500, or both. For mischief he can be sentenced to two years in prison, a fine or both. Possession of an offensive instrument is punishable by up to two years in prison.
