Salah scored a brace in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday night, bringing his total to 50 goals since joining the Reds.

The African Footballer of the year 2017 of the CAF scored his first two goals of the current UCL campaign during the third week of play of the 2018/19 season.

In doing so, he has now scored more goals than Messi since the start of the previous campaign. The Argentine has not been able to add to the five goals that he has already scored this season after being injured.

Only former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo has scored more goals in the European elite competition since the start of last season. The Portuguese striker is leading the standings with 15 catches – all scored in 2017/18 for Real, while he has not yet scored his first UCL goal for Juventus.

Salah follows in second place alongside Edin Dzeko, AS Roma, both scored 13 times since the start of 2017/18.
