Motorcyclist dies after being hit by taxi in Eng Neo Ave, a stopped driver, Singapore News

A 52-year-old man died after being hit by a taxi on Eng Neo Avenue on Saturday morning (27 October).

The taxi driver, a 48-year-old man, was arrested for causing the death by negligence.

Young Kuan-Sing, Stomp's contributor, alerted Stomp about the accident and shared the videos he took from the scene around 8:40.

Stomp will not download videos because of their sensitive nature.

In the videos, the motorcyclist is lying on the road, motionless while a passer-by taps him repeatedly, trying to make him react.

"The taxi driver told me that he was a relief driver," said Mr. Young, a 70-year-old retiree.

"He was frantically making phone calls."

In response to a question from Stomp media, a police spokesman said he was alerted of the accident around 8:27.

"The motorcyclist was declared dead by paramedics on the scene," the spokesman said.

Police investigations are under way.
