SINGAPORE – The wife of the late President of Singapore Wee Kim Wee died Saturday (July 7th) at the age of 102 years.
Addressing the Straits Times, his daughter, Ms. Wee Eng Hwa, 75, said Ms. Wee had She just celebrated her birthday Friday with some of her children and two friends.
Before dinner, she had suffered some breathing difficulties, which worsened on Saturday afternoon.
Recognized for her warmth, grace and culinary skills Ms. Wee was sent to Changi General Hospital on Saturday night in an ambulance, but she could not be revived.
"They did their best, but did not find a pulse except the pacemaker. said Ms. Wee, lawyer.
"She made us proud, did so much for us, gave us the best of us."
Born Koh Sok Hiong, Ms. Wee married Mr. Wee in 1936.
had seven children – a son and six daughters. Mr. Wee, who was president of Singapore from 1985 to 1993, died on May 2, 2005.
Ms. Wee leaves behind six children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren
