A new version of a mental health directory for Warwickshire was recently launched at an annual conference
The directory, which covers the entire county, contains information on organizations, support groups and agencies for people affected by mental health.
It was originally compiled for the Warwick District in 2013.
On June 14 in Leamington, the new version of the repertoire was launched at the annual conference of the South Warwickshire Mental Health Partnership
. professionals in the public and private sectors and aims to improve collaboration, raise awareness of mental health issues and support those affected in South Warwickshire.
90 people representing more than 40 organizations attended the conference. This year's event "People at Risk – Inspirational Stories" included presentations by Michael Mansfield QC and Yvette Greenway from SOS Silence of Suicide and Alex Cotton MBE from It Takes Balls to Talk.
A number of workshops were delivered during the morning on specific topics such as cultural awareness and the elderly. Jane Holdsworth, who facilitates the South Warwickshire Mental Health Partnership, said: "The South Warwickshire Mental Health Partnership's sixth annual conference showed how agencies and organizations collaborate and strategically support people with mental health issues.
"The local voluntary sector works with Coventry and the Warwickshire Partnership Trust to develop community hubs that allow youth and their families to talk about mental health issues in an informal setting.
" The sector is also collaborating with public health to implement the county-wide suicide prevention action plan.
"It is essential that the limited resources devoted to mental health be used as effectively as possible
"One in four adults will have a mental health problem and one in ten children."
"Suicide is the leading cause of death among young men and in Warwickshire, suicide rates are higher than the national average. "The Mental Health Inventory provides a comprehensive resource of support to people with mental health problems.
