New Lexus LC F Tested – A Purified GT for a Powerful New Powertrain

Lexus tested a high-performance version of its flagship LC coupe. Probably called LC F, the new flagship model will feature a new transmission and a more pronounced focus on maneuverability. The distinctive Japanese GT will be developed to compete with sub-supercars like the Porsche 911 Turbo or performance-oriented GTs like the Aston Martin DB11 AMR, only with a very Japanese spin.

The Lexus LC is already a form the road, but the spy photos of the F version show visible asymmetric coolers (either oil coolers or intercoolers) sitting inside the front bumper on each side of the spindle grill. While this does not confirm the under-the-hood engine, there is a need for additional cooling, which usually goes hand in hand with more powerful units.

Indeed, rumors of a new 4-liter V8 bi-turbo being developed by Lexus persist. to be presented here. Currently, the LC coupe is available in naturally aspirated V8 and V6 hybrid form, but both sit significantly under the 500 hp brand. Sources have suggested that the new powertrain could produce more than 600 horsepower, with an equally brave torque silhouette finally giving the LC coupe the kind of performance that its supernatural appearance implies.

In addition to the modifications to the front bumper, Lexus also widened the front fenders and installed smaller 20-inch wheels, although we expected to see different wheels and bodies on the production car. What this indicates is the Lexus emphasis on how the fat GT will ride in the F shape, which the standard LC500 rear wheel steering system will only help. On the back, other evidence that the LC is likely to adopt the F nomenclature comes in the form of stacked rear exhausts – a distinctive styling feature used on all Lexus F models.

Although Lexus remained close-lipped About its next flagship product, Lexus sources have confirmed the importance of this type of halo product for the brand. It's been so long since a brand new F model has been revealed, and the LC F alongside the refreshed RC F looks like an exciting year for Lexus.
