A new call for tenders will be launched at the end of the month for the construction of the Changi TPE-PIE viaduct, after the Administration of Transport Terrestres (LTA) and a unit of OKP Holdings mutually agreed to terminate their contract.
The bid will be awarded in the fourth quarter of this year and the indicative date of completion of the project is the first half of 2022, said the LTA in a press release Monday afternoon.
The replacement contractor will be responsible for completing the construction of the viaduct, including the demolition of any structures deemed unsafe.
The OKP subsidiary, Gold Kim Peow Contractors, and five people were charged in court in late May for their role in the fatal collapse of the road viaduct under construction in July 2017. The latter killed one worker and injured 10 others. OKP Holdings had won the viaduct project in 2015 for 94.6 million Singaporean dollars with the lowest bid.
The site will be maintained by LTA. m entrepreneur until the replacement contractor is appointed. LTA will continue to work closely with its subcontractors to ensure that they comply with occupational safety and health requirements, he said. The PPCL closed on July 6 at $ 0.295.
