Paul Pogba will make Manchester United fans very happy with his latest declaration

Paul Pogba has opened up on his return to Manchester United in 2016, and insists it was a case of ‘coming back home’.

World Cup winner Pogba walked out on United in 2012, having grown frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Four years later, having starred for Juventus and emerged as one of Europe’s brightest stars, Pogba returned to Old Trafford, joining for a then-world record £89million fee.

Following his return, Pogba won the Europa League and League Cup under Jose Mourinho in his first season back, before leading United to a second place finish last term – albeit some way behind champions Manchester City.

Plenty of criticism has come his way in the last 12 months too, while there was also a falling out with United boss Mourinho – a relationship his agent, Mino Raiola, now insists is fine once more.

Pogba, 25, has revealed his thoughts on his return to United, and how his four years in Turin was merely “a holiday”.

“When I came back to United, it was the best feeling ever,” he told Inside United magazine. “I came back home. I always dreamed of playing for United, to have many games and score goals.

“Nothing had really changed, except for maybe the team and the manager, but the rest of the club was the same.

Pogba’s time in Turin was just “a holiday”

“I just came back home, it was like I didn’t really leave – I just went on holiday! It was a great feeling to come back home. It was great to come back, to feel the air of Manchester. That has never changed.”

Speculation has been rife in 2018 that Pogba has been keen to move on once more, most notably to Barcelona.

But it would appear that, just six weeks after being told he would never captain United again, he is now very much focused only on an Old Trafford future.
