Niantic apparently teased the addition of Pokemon Go's Generation 4 pokemon in a post on his Twitter account. If you take a closer look, you can see the Gen 4 starters.
The post in question was posted to celebrate the second anniversary of Pokemon GO, and has a pokemon crowd that already appear in the game In addition to this, we can see Chimchar, Piplup and Turtwig in the picture, pokemon appeared in the 4th generation Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Games

Currently, Pokemon GO only has genotypes 1, 2, 3 and Alolan-shape, so the fans are now eagerly awaiting news for a gen 4 update to come to the hit mobile game. This is the first time we see the GEN 4 Pokémon feature in any Pokémon GO promo art, so signs announce an announcement sooner rather than later.
Many fans are pointing to the Pokemon GO Fest event this weekend in Chicago. The event would be a great place to make such a Pokemon GO announcement, but we will have to wait and see if it materializes or not.
