Porsche Teases One-off Gold Project for the 70th Anniversary

The project appears to be a 993-mod resto.

Porsche is teasing a new unique car for its 70th anniversary as a car manufacturer. Called Project Gold, it will be auctioned to the highest bidder at the end.

The project is undertaken by Porsche Classic, which specializes in the restoration of historical models of the company. In the first video, titled "The Vision," the description begs us to "experiment with the development of a vehicle that has never been seen before". In the clip, we see a designer sketch of a 911 with a wide and low position.

Meanwhile, the covers are raised from a bareboat 993, hinting that it will serve as a basis for the Gold Project. "The inspiration – based on a classic body – has been individualized by Porsche designers," the description goes on.

Porsche intends to unveil a new video documenting the construction each week until its revelation. Their titles indicate which part of the car the videos will feature. Then there is "Lacquer and Laser", "Sewing and Sewing", "Protect and Preserve" and "Motor and Electricity". The car will be unveiled online on August 24 and shown in public at Rennsport Reunion on September 27 in Laguna Seca. Finally, it will be auctioned at the sale of RM Sotheby Porsche's 70th birthday at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia on October 27th.
