World champion Marc Marquez was the fastest man in the third MotoGP practice session, as strong winds wreaked havoc on Phillip Island.

The Spaniard drove his Honda factory one lap in 1 minute, 29.714 seconds, although he slipped into turn 4 at the start of the session.

Maverick Vinales on the Yamaha was second, 0.042 seconds behind and just ahead of the Ducati of Australian Jack Miller.

But gusts of wind have slowed Andrea Iannone's time and time from Friday afternoon on her Suzuki remains the fastest in the overall standings.

Most riders were unable to improve their Friday times with much less than a second on the 4.45 km circuit.

Hafizh Syahrin was taken to the medical center after a sudden fall of his Yamaha and in the gravel at turn 1.

Jordi Torres (Ducati) and Bradley Smith (KTM) also fell as the drivers struggled with the conditions.

Valentino Rossi, also pushed by the wind at turn 4, stayed in the top 10 of qualifying session 2 later today.

Brit Cal Crutchlow was officially excluded from the race after he broke his ankle during the crash of Round 1 on Friday. It is now feared that the Honda driver will miss the rest of the season.

In Moto2, Australia's Remy Gardner improved after the terrible crash yesterday and was 12th fastest, 0.866 seconds behind Germany's Marcel Schrotter.
