Sarri resists the urge to move to Chelsea

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri doubts that his team is good enough to win the Premier League title this season, but it is unlikely that the latter will enter the transfer market in a quest for improvement.

The Blues are unbeaten under Sarri since their 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 5th.

After 10 Premier League matches, Chelsea is more than two points from Liverpool and City at the top, with the three clubs still not suffering defeat.

Despite the things that seem to be happening at Stamford Bridge under the new regime, Sarri is confident that Chelsea can still improve, although he does not plan any reinforcement for the moment the January transfer window opens.

"No, I must think that I only have to help these players to improve," Sarri told reporters before Crystal Palace's visit on Sunday.

"It's too easy to get into the market for every problem, I think we need to improve and we need to improve with these players because they can improve.

"I did not ask anything about it [new players in January] at my club at the moment because for now I think we can stay with these players and be competitive. Maybe not for the top [of the table]but you have to try to get close to the top.

"I have to think about improving my players, it's my job, I think, the market is [for] the club. I can tell the club what I think I need, but my job is to try to improve my players. "

Sarri was also questioned about the problems he faced in his previous jobs at Empoli and Napoli. He immediately reported problems in his defense, which he wants to develop in Chelsea.

"I think we have the same problems, but the quality of the players is very high, which allows them to win games against a good defense," he said.

"In the future, we have to become a very strong team, so if we want to be competitive and win something, then we have to be a strong team.

"If you look at the top of the table, City has conceded only three and second place [Liverpool] conceded four. It is important to be strong to be competitive.

"We must improve, I think, recover the ball in the other half.We must support in the opponent's half of the field.

"We have to recover the lost ball immediately, and if I have to recover the lost ball immediately, we have to have good positions on the [half-way] line in the defense.

"Sometimes we're in a bad position, like in the last few games, so it's impossible to get the ball back and leave no space for the counter-attacks."
