Ivorian back Serge Aurier arrived in Tottenham last summer. The former PSG player has been recruited to replace Kyle Walker of Manchester City. Since the move, Aurier has been replaced by his compatriot Kieran Trippier. The shape of Aurier north of London has been erratic. Some have written off Ivorian after a season 2017/18 largely disappointing. However, the man himself said that he wanted to take advantage of Trippier's long summer period to impress. With the record of manager Mauricio Pochettino of the improvement of the players, especially the backs, could he see this year the return of the Fullback in the Premier League?
Athleticism
As an athlete, there is little in English football. Strong, agile, powerful and dynamic, the Ivorian is the template of the modern backback in relation to the physicality. The main issues surrounding Aurier are related to his mental performance. Several non-forced mistakes, as well as unnecessary evictions and ridiculous tackles ending in avoidable penalties, have seen him as a bit of a loose cannon. Braking his series bears witness to half the battle for Pochettino
The player is only 25 years old and still has time to improve his game like Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Ben Davies l & rsquo; Have done before him under the direction of Pochettino. Compared to natural abilities and experience, Aurier has a big advantage over his compatriots. Aurier has won titles in France as well as internationally. The player should rise to the challenge of becoming a regular at the first team in Tottenham
Will Aurier dethrone Trippier?
After an impressive world cup, most Tottenham fans will prefer Tripper. The English international has been widely announced following his exploits in Russia. However, the native of Bury is not as infallible as many would like to believe. His lack of pace severely limits the side offensively and defensively. The English right-back rarely takes his man who slows down attacks and is often "left for dead" against faster wingmen, with Leroy Sane's performance against him this season and Dybala coming off of him for Juventus being perfect examples. Although having fewer direct errors than Aurier, Trippier is less able to defend against quality opponents as does Ivorian. The only area that Trippier excels comfortably on the Ivorian is in pieces and crossing. Trippier has recorded five Premier League appearances in comparison to the two Auriers.
No matter who's first choice next season, Tottenham has two very good backs to call. The battle for the starting role will be interesting and the fact that Aurier seems to be motivated to do his best to reach this role bodes well for the Tottenham season.
