Police arrested a 21-year-old man on Saturday, July 23 for allegedly filming a video of a woman in a ladies' washroom on the campus of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). The accused will be accused of insulting the modesty of a woman.
The victim of this case, Liyin Lee, a SIM student, shared this incident with a Facebook message to inform other students of this accused.
In this post, she wrote that when she was in the ladies' washroom on the fourth floor of the campus, she saw that a guy was holding a camera phone overhead. she and recorded the scene. The post also added that after noticing the anonymous 21-year-old man, she left the restroom and was waiting outside with a friend, whom she asked to come immediately.
Liyin also wrote that the man took a long time to get out of the toilet and pretended to shoot twice. But, as soon as he came out of the victim and his friend interrogated him. They asked, "Why was he in the women's restroom and he said that he had a stomach ache and went into the wrong toilet accidentally."
According to the post, Liyin said that even after confronting the accused, he continued to defend himself and died of wanting to commit such a crime, until he 39, they decided to call the police. The two even asked the man "where was his class and he said level two, but we were at level 4. So, how did he accidentally get into a female toilet at level 4, while 39, he had a stomach ache? 2? "
Later, when the police came and investigated the case, they told the victim that it was not his first offense.
However, this is not the first case where an accused was caught red-handed while filming an obscene video in a teaching institution. In March, a student from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) found a camera hidden in a ladies' washroom, and a trainee teacher was sentenced to imprisonment for using his cell phone for to record the obscene acts of the student.
