A six-month trial of selected MRT stations announced November 12, 2018, the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Earlier on February 4, 2012, at the Newton station along the DownTown Line (DTL) in the largest emergency preparedness exercise at MRT station here to date. The eight-hour drill took place from 10 am to 6 pm, which was conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SBS Transit.
