Sneaker convention Sole Superior goes massive this year at a disused power station for Street Superior Festival

This year marks the sixth edition of Sole Superior, and they’re going even bigger. Literally. Going beyond just a whole day event at Zouk, Sole Superior has evolved into a full-fledged festival called Street Superior — a two-day affair at the historic Pasir Panjang ‘A’ Power Station. It’ll be an assembly of street subcultures spread across a massive 70,000 square feet indoor industrial playground.

Sneakerheads will absolutely make a beeline for the Hall of Flame, where 200 pairs of rarely-seen, super-rare sneakers amassed by local and regional private collectors will be shown, including the $8,000 Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Jaspers kicks.

For everyone else, there’s the Marketplace, a colossal version of the streetwear emporium that made Sole Superior its name. This time, 70 vendors consisting of private collectors, resellers, social media businesses, and brands will be offering up their wares for sale. Those without booths can always take part in the commerce at the Trading Pit where all attendees are welcome to bring their own sneakers to sell, trade or barter in a roaming free-for-all.

Going big doesn’t mean forgetting the less fortunate, and a shoe donation drive organized by Jason Markk x Bystander x Native calls for unwanted shoes to be donated. Nashville-based non-profit social enterprise Soles4Souls will be taking in the donated kicks and help create sustainable jobs as well as provide relief through the distribution of shoes.

Being so far out in ulu Pasir Panjang means that it’ll be hard to find some proper meals and drinks nearby, but Street Superior has it covered. There’re sandwiches from Park Bench Deli, wagyu sliders by Tokidon, mee rebus by famed Ang Mo Kio hawker stall Yunos, bubble tea by Kipo’s, and a lot more grub to be had. Test out your new kicks on the dance floor to live tunes and beats by the likes of Evening Chants, .Gif, Choice Cuts and .Wav(y).
