COLOMBO (Reuters) – Sri Lankan police arrested a father on suspicion of feeding his son a year ago after being photographed on social media, a police spokesman said.
. was seen with three friends in a widely shared video on social media, apparently giving beer from a bottle of beer to his son in Meegalewa, a village in Central Anuradhapura District
"Police arrested the infant's father." Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera told Reuters the video was broadcast on local television.
Arrest is the latest by the police as a result of suspicious actions on social media.
The video seen by Reuters showed that the suspect had given his beer twice to his son while at least one voice was heard in the background saying that alcohol should not be given to a child.
Gunasekera says that the child was referred to a forensic medical officer to check if the drink was indeed alcoholic.
