Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and the English county of Middlesex join forces to launch an academy to teach girls and boys about sport, children aged nine to 14 said on Wednesday
. cricket program at the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy (TMGA).
There will be several cricket camps from the English Merchant Taylor School August 6-9, but then venture to Mumbai, London and further afield. The academy will offer girls and boys ages 9 to 14 the opportunity to learn from two of the most respected and renowned institutions of world cricket – "Sachin Tendulkar and Middlesex Cricket", read a joint statement.
The training program developed by Middlesex's professional coaches and the master himself will help young and aspiring cricketers with various aspects of cricket, including insights into the athletic development of sports psychology, tactical development and technical changes.
"With the identification of talents at the heart of the academy, TMGA will also provide opportunities for talented disadvantaged children with 100 available scholarships."
Tendulkar, considered one of the greatest drummers of all time having accumulated the most points in international cricket, said that the ambition of the academy was twofold.
"I am delighted to collaborate with Middlesex Cricket on this new venture," said the 45-year-old
"The goal is not just to produce good cricketers, but also good citizens of the future. "
