Earlier this year, it was announced that Blizzard founder Mike Morhaime would be stepping down as president of Blizzard after 27 consecutive years with the company. And to say goodbye, Blizzard involved the crowd.
A series of cards, glow sticks and wifflebats were stuck on the Blizzcon seats. The last two are pretty standard for conventions and Blizzcon, but what was different this year was the organization behind it.
As participants flooded the scene, a Blizzard representative gave basic instructions from the scene. At approximately 11:07 local time, Morhaime put the spotlight on the new president of Blizzard, World of Warcraft executive producer J. Allen Brack. At this point, the crowd would then be involved.

In a statement released this morning, Activision Blizzard announced that Blizzard President Mike Morhaime would be replaced at his post by World of Warcraft executive producer J. Allen Brack.

The most interesting element on the floor was a series of "waterfall cards", a photo of which is displayed above. The cards each had a small slot in which people could watch.
The front of the cards was empty. Would they light during the show? All cards combine to say something? The crowd never knew what the cards were saying; a shot of the message was never displayed on the screen, only Brack and Morhaime kissing each other.
"What a great moment," said Brack.
A Blizzard representative later said the message read "Thank you", a nice way for Morhaime to leave the scene. It would have been cool if everyone involved could see the fruits of their work, but it's interesting that the crowd has a role to play, whatever.
