The 2018 World Cup has been rich in exciting matches: the Tuesday afternoon game between Switzerland and Sweden was not one of them.
Perhaps it was partly to the pre-game confusion about which country was that. Or, it could have been the empty seats of the stadium
. Again, perhaps it was simply the anti-climax route that Switzerland left the competition after all the drama and controversy of the group stage.
No matter, the reason, Tuesday's game failed to ignite

And while Sweden was summarily dismissed as "modest" and "limited" in the Swiss press, it was the team in red and white who came the most critical after the match Tuesday afternoon

The "Nati", as the national team is known in Switzerland, has been described as "safe" by the regional daily Aarguer Zeitung.
The players did not "win the victory," the paper said, noting that the country had once again left the World Cup in the round of 16. Tuesday night, introspection was already underway. "Switzerland is missing something," said the Swiss national broadcaster SRF

The broadcaster asked: was it a lack of killer instinct? Too little intelligence? Too little talent?
For Tages Anzeiger journalists, it was simple: "They are not as good as they think and say it," the newspaper says.
Among fans, the dominant feeling was disappointment and frustration. On social networks, meanwhile, there was a lot of humor.
