Ricciardo has not yet agreed to a new contract with Red Bull, but should stay with the team to move from Renault to Honda next season.
Asked by Autosport that he was completely convinced by Honda, Ricciardo said: "I probably think until I drove a Honda that I would not know [100%].
"I obviously heard the team more than once and they gave me the reasons.
"The important thing for me, to understand why they did it, is that it can not be purely about emotions.

Red Bull's director of the team, Christian Horner, said that Ricciardo had "really no need" to convince Honda.

The Red Bull junior team, Toro Rosso, uses Honda engines this year and it's the Japanese manufacturer's combustion engine upgrade to Canada that sealed the deal for the senior outfit.
But Toro Rosso's driver, Pierre Gasly, complained last weekend of the British Grand Prix that Honda was costing his squad a speed of almost a second.
Ricciardo downplayed the impact it would have on his confidence in Honda for 2019, saying after qualifying: "Well, I would say we are losing something similar [with Renault]."
His teammate Max Verstappen has repeatedly stated that the Renault engine cost Red Bull a second around Silverstone, calling the race's deficit "tragic".
The inability of Renault to compete with Ferrari and Mercedes since the start of the F1 turbo-hybrid era in 2014 has been a constant frustration for Red Bull and its drivers.
The French manufacturer introduces a new high-power mode for the Austrian GP but Ricciardo minimizes its impact.
"I keep a cold base and I'm not too excited," he said.
"It's easy to be disappointed if you think it's going to be so good.
"If it's better, it's better and we'll take everything we can."
