SINGAPORE – As part of efforts to make cultural and heritage spaces more inclusive for people with additional needs, the National Museum of Singapore (NMS) will offer a rest room for children with special needs [19659002] Offering a calm and relaxing setting to these children, who may be over excited by the outdoor environment, the 25 square meter room will accommodate three to four families at a time.

This was announced at a gala on Thursday, July 5 at the museum of the French banking group BNP Paribas, main sponsor of the hall

This contribution was made on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the bank in Singapore and in accordance with the bank's commitment to diversity and inclusion

The hall will be part of the forthcoming initiative of Thursday Quiet Thursdays, in which families with children having Special needs and special education schools will be allowed to visit the room from 9 am on Thursdays, an hour before the museum opens its doors to the public.

Qualified staff will also be present in the room to assist guests if needed.

In addition to early departures on Thursday, the room will be made available during normal museum opening hours from 10 am to 7 pm daily

Details are not finalized, but the room will be designed to enhance visitor experience at the museum through the use of sensory elements

This initiative is consistent with the Heritage Plan of our SG, which aims to encourage greater accessibility to property cultural and cultural aspects.
