The original Bugatti Veyron remains an automotive masterpiece. It is capable of incredible speed, but that 's not what everyone finds thrilling behind the wheel. Some people just want to make donuts and have a little fun. The problem of making donuts in a Veyron is that the standard all-wheel drive system simply provides too much traction. To make the donuts easy to do, the AWD system should be off the hook.
Houston Crosta is the owner of Royalty Exotic Cars in Las Vegas. He also owns the Bugatti Veyron 2008 in the video above and wants to make donuts there. So he and his mechanic, Jesse Tang, decided to detach the front axles from the front differential and show us what's going on.
Instead of simply disconnecting the front wheels of the powertrain, Crosta and Tang completely remove the front differential. We do not actually see them coming out, but the front axles are clearly differentiated.
Once the car bolted, Crosta takes it for an initial attempt to check for problems and / or warning lights. Surprisingly, he does not find such problems. In fact, Houston now notes that the turning radius is greatly improved and the steering seems much lighter. The Veyron is ready to rock, so it's time to set some cameras on fire and crush the throttle on the ground.
Crosta cooks donuts easily. Veyron's four-turbocharged W-16 engine simply transmits power to the rear tires. The result is 365mm wide tires that are instantly overworked and do not match the 1,200 horsepower valve. Soon we see the ropes.
We would like to know if warning lights have started to appear after a little more driving. The system must feel that something is wrong. Whether the couple is headed for nowhere or just the fact that games have been removed, the Veyron should be able to say that something has changed.
But it's a glorious change, and we applaud all those who would like to grab a hypercar to make it even more fun, especially if it's a rare Mansory Vivere version of the car that was also modified with red film.
