the ex-Formula 1 Tommy Byrne says he could compete for more races when he was offered the "bargain" after making a comeback in the race at Silverstone.
Byrne started two grand prizes for Theodore in 1982, but coming from Austria and the United States.
A test with McLaren that year was not rewarded, and Byrne then moved to America in 1986 and has been a driver coach in the United States since
. He raced at Silverstone for the first time since 1984 last weekend, riding a 1977 Ensign N177 in the historic Formula 1 Masters races that supported the British Grand Prix, although Byrne encountered problems
"I will come back "there is the bargain," said the 60-year-old, who recently shot in the public eye with a documentary based on his book, Crash and Byrne.
"I really enjoyed it I love the team and [JamesHagan[car owner] when I ask for something, I have it and I like it a lot.
"It's just a shame we did not finish it but …"
Silverstone's long absence of Byrne meant that the Masters event was the first time that he had not been finished. he had rolled on the current route of the Grand Prix, and he admitted that he had taken the time to get
"I tried to go in a simulator to the States United States, and I have not managed to take a walk without crushing it, "he said.
"I now have most turns but there is one of which I'm still not comfortable, the corner after Copse [Maggotts].
" I'm not sure from the grip of the car as I am novice. It is difficult to learn quickly when you get older.
"Yesterday [the first race on Saturday] was good, we were going in the right direction, we learned a lot and I'm happy."
"I enjoyed it, it's not going to change my life."
The McLaren M29C Byrne tested in 1982 was also on track at Silverstone in the hands of ex mechanic McLaren Warren Briggs.
