Uber Appoints New Privacy Officer, Responsible for Data Protection

REUTERS: Uber Technologies Appoints Ruby Zefo as Chief of Privacy and Simon Hania as Data Protection Officer, a Reuters spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday

. The ride-hailing company has had a fairly short history when it comes to protecting driver and passenger data, even as it prepares for public registration next year.

Hackers has already stolen information on Uber drivers n 2014 that his employees had used a software tool called "God View" to track passengers.

Zefo, who will start her new job from August 6, joins Uber from Intel Corp where she was head of privacy and security.

Hania joins Dutch digital mapping company TomTom NV, where he was vice president of privacy and security.
