TOKYO (REUTERS) – Two US aircraft carriers equipped with about 150 fighters carry out "complex" war drills in the Philippine Sea, the US Navy announced Thursday, November 15 as part of a demonstration of force in the waters located south of China away from North Korea.

The two carriers, the USS Ronald Reagan, based in Japan, and the USS John C Stennis, deployed from the US West Coast, conduct air, surface and anti-submarine warfare operations. announced the seventh US fleet in a press release.

The US Navy has already conducted such operations, including three carrier exercises last year, as tensions with North Korea intensified.

The latest, which coincides with US Vice President Mike Pence's visit to the region, comes as denuclearization talks with North Korea show little progress and trade relations with China are only limited. One for nothing.

"Bringing two aircraft carrier strike groups together provides unprecedented naval combat power," said the US seventh fleet commander, Vice Admiral Phil Sawyer.

The USS Reagan also took part in the biggest war games ever held in Japan and around this month, bringing together dozens of US and Japanese ships, hundreds of aircraft and thousands of military.
