Fat Goa (Goa): Goa FC have risen to the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) after a 5-0 victory over Mumbai City FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.

Star striker Ferran Corominas converted a penalty (6th) to give advance to his host before Jackichand Singh (55) hit in the second half, Edu Bedia (61st) scored 3-0. . Miguel Palanca (84, 90) condemned Mumbai City to a heavy defeat.

The match started from start to finish and Mumbai should have taken the lead when Arnold Issoko scratched his effort.

Souvik Chakrabarti dropped Coro with a colossal challenge, which left the choice to the referee. The former striker from Espanyol pulled out a Panenka that puzzled Amrinder Singh and gave Goa the advantage.

The visitors had several opportunities to score the equalizer as they had won several free headers inside the Goa lodge, but could not test Nawaz. Goa is threatened but Amrinder has come to the rescue of Mumbai on the occasion.

The grid doors opened at the second session when the center of Seriton Fernandes was transformed by Net, by Jackichand, which preceded Souvik Chakrabarti to raise the score to 2-0.

The Gaurs then added one more point to the goal thanks to Bedia's superb shot from outside the shot of the foot that spun on the back of the net.

Goa was in cruise control at that time. Miguel Palanca, who entered the game in the 82nd minute, pushed the last nail into the coffin of Mumbai City with a tight corset.

First, Palanca took the center of Manvir Singh and lifted the back in front of substitute goalkeeper Ravi Kumar before sending a left-handed goal to the goalkeeper in the 90th minute after taking Ahmed Jahouh's center to the right.

Victory would be the proof for Sergio Lobera that his ways of tiki taka produced results. Goa have now scored 10 goals in their first three games and will face FC Pune City in their next home game on Sunday.

The win allowed the Goa to overtake Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United from the difference in goals at the top of the table, while Mumbai dropped to seventh.
