Singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston is dead, his family announced on Wednesday. He was 58 years old.
According to a statement posted on Facebook, Johnston would have died of natural causes in his Houston home.
"Daniel was a singer, a songwriter, an artist and a friend for all," reads the statement. "Although he's been struggling with mental health issues for most of his adult life, Daniel has triumphed over his illness through his prolific artwork and songs."
