Sion will join Duke for Thursday's tournament

CHARLOTTE – Zion Williamson will be back for the first time in almost a month on Thursday as Duke takes on Syracuse in the ACC tournament.

Williamson injured his left knee against North Carolina on Feb. 20 and the Blue Devils struggled in his absence, losing three of their six games.

In the middle of a debate over the fact that the player of the year of ACC and the first general selection in the June draft of the NBA in June should be suspended for the rest of the season Coach Mike Krzyzewski assured that Williamson would be back and said Thursday's game would be the most likely date on the field.

Williamson practiced hard all week long and Krzyzewski expects the team to experience a quick adjustment period allowing his star to return to the lineup, bringing the Blue Devils back to the top of the national rankings.

"We have a throw-in button," said Krzyzewski after a loss to UNC to finish his regular season. "If Zion is healthy, we have a chance."

Thursday afternoon, Duke posted on Twitter a photo of Williamson wearing a pair of Nike Kyrie Irving sneakers.

Williamson wore a Nike Paul George shoe, the PG 2.5, on February 20, when he sustained a knee injury. Just 33 seconds after Duke's duel against North Carolina, Williamson crashed to make a move, but then his shoe broke and was torn at the sole. He left the game and missed the next five games.
