Police are looking for the men, including one accused of murder.
Police in central California are looking for six men who they say escaped a prison on Saturday night by lowering its roof walls with a homemade rope.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office said the inmates, aged 19 to 22, were first spotted missing from their cells before midnight. Officers determined they were able to “access the roof of the facility and use a homemade rope to descend the side of the jail,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
The fugitives who escaped from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office jail were identified and described as follows:
Fabian Cruz Roman, 22.5 feet, 6 inches tall and 155 pounds, was in jail for murder, according to the sheriff’s office.
Gabriel Francis Cornado, 19, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 225 pounds, was in jail for attempted murder, shooting in an inhabited dwelling, participating in a criminal street gang, felon in possession of a gun and violation of probation, the sheriff’s office said.
Manuel Allen Leon, 21.5 feet, 10 inches tall and 165 pounds, was in jail on charges of assault with a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, escaping reckless driving by police officer peace, involvement in a criminal street gang and carrying a loaded gun, according to the sheriff’s office.
Andrews Nunez Rodriguez Jr., 21, 5 feet, 7 inches, 145 pounds, was in jail for attempted murder, shooting in an inhabited dwelling, participating in a criminal street gang and possessing a gun, the office from the sheriff told me.
Edgar Eduardo Ventura, 22.5 feet, 11 inches and 129 pounds, was in jail on charges of felony possession of a firearm, involvement in a criminal street gang and breach of probation, said the sheriff’s office.
Jorge Barron, 20.5 feet, 5 inches tall, 140 pounds, was in jail on a probation violation charge, the sheriff’s office said.
A task force has been formed to find the fugitives, and anyone with information is urged to call 911, the sheriff’s office said.
