Sixers win over Lakers thriller over game winner Tobias Harris

What. A game.

Tonight, the Sixers escaped with a 107-106 victory over the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Coming into the game, the Sixers were 9-0 with their starting lineup intact (like tonight). The Lakers were also 10-0 on the road. Now they are 10-1.

Joel Embiid got off to a good start, scoring 13 of his 28 points in the first quarter. In the third quarter, Embiid suffered a frightening blow after being pushed into the air by LeBron James (34 points) and landed squarely on his back. He stayed in the game and played the entire third quarter. He finished the night with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. He made 11 of his 13 free throws.

Ben Simmons was aggressive, offensively, from the jump. He’s attacked the basket time and time again en route to 17 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and just one turnover. He’s the Ben Simmons the Sixers need to show up every night. Well done, Ben.

Danny Green played a solid game, scoring 14 points on four 3s facts.

Things were going great for the Sixers in the fourth quarter, until they backed up a terrible 22-5 Lakers run that started around the 4-minute mark. LA took the lead on an Anthony Davis layup with 11 seconds left.

In the walks our hero.

With two seconds remaining, Tobias Harris punctuated an extremely effective game on both sides, leaving just enough space to hoist a jumper over the Lakers’ Alex Caruso. Splash.

The Sixers win. If only the fans had been there tonight.

Next stop for the Sixers: on the road to Minnesota on Friday.
