Skip Bayless wants the patriots to do this for Odell Beckham Jr. | Patriots of New England

Bill Belichick has never hesitated to avoid blockbusters during his tenure with the New England Patriots, and the decorated head coach may have a chance to buy another one.

Although no one currently knows if the Giants are actively buying Odell Beckham Jr., the Patriots could very well be players in the OBJ draw if New York was looking to go from the wide receiver. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer thinks the Giants will be playing Beckham this season, a move from New England that "aggressively" tried to spend the last season hoping to bring the tripled selection to the Pro Bowl in Foxboro.

Skip Bayless also hopes Beckham will eventually take on the uniform of the Patriots. FOX Sports 1's talk headline went on Twitter Monday night to expose a hypothetical trade that would make his dream a reality.

At first glance, Bayless's deal may be out of balance. After all, Beckham turned 26 last November and is undoubtedly one of the best outsiders in the game. But let's keep in mind two other leading WRs – Brandin Cooks and Amari Cooper – were traded only for a first round pick over the last calendar year, and it's apparently clearing that the Pittsburgh Steelers aspire to a potential deal with Antonio Brown.

In addition, the full scope of Beckham's contract is friendly for the team, which would probably reassure the Patriots to face its imposing high salary cap for the 2019 season. And as Bayless notes, the addition of Beckham would certainly help the New England to make the most of his last seasons with Tom Brady in the center.

Yes, this hypothetical chord is a "long shot," admits Bayless. But strange things have happened in the NFL, so it would be foolish to dismiss it completely.
