Skype doubles the number of people you can call simultaneously in a group. The company announced the new upgrade earlier this week, allowing users to make video or audio calls with 50 people simultaneously.
Doubling the number of people supported by group calls to 50 places Skype in front of most classic chat services, including WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. In particular, Skype is now ahead of Apple's FaceTime, which allows users to call groups up to 32 people at a time.
Skype also changes the way group calls are made to make things less boring. When you make a group call with more than 25 people, Skype will simply send a normal notification to all members instead of calling them all at the same time. And this will make things less boring as not all group members will receive a ring every time you start a group call. Skype allows you to call individual members of the group individually. If your group has fewer than 25 participants, you can call them at the same time.
The experience of moving from one member to another from one group to another always seems like a disaster. You will simply have a gallery of all the participants at the top of the call and you will be able to choose to see different members from there. Apple's FaceTime, on the other hand, allows people who speak at one point to be tuned.
