With Bethesda now officially part of the Xbox family, a number of the studio’s games are now available on Game Pass, and a good chunk of those are getting the FPS Boost treatment for Xbox Series X / S.
Conversing with Larry Hryb, aka “Xbox’s Major Nelson”, (thanks, Wario64) Xbox Communications Manager Jeff Rubenstein has confirmed that five of the Bethesda games that just launched on Game Pass are being FPS Boosted for Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. These games are Dishonored Definitive Edition, Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Prey. Rubenstein also clarified that the five new FPS Boosted games will allow you to turn the feature on and off in case you prefer to play them as they were originally released, although I can’t imagine why you would want to. this.
There’s a lot going on with Xbox right now, so you’ll be forgiven if you’ve missed the FPS Boost news. This is exactly what it sounds like: a new feature exclusive to the Xbox Series X / S that gives some older games, mainly titles from the Xbox One era, a significant increase in frame rate without the original developers do anything. This latest batch of Besthesda games joins a paltry list of titles that support the feature at the moment, but Microsoft has reported that it plans to add FPS Boost to its backlog of Xbox games roughly every two weeks.
If you’re still wondering what Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda means for exclusivity, Xbox says ‘a’ future Bethesda games will be Xbox and PC exclusives.
