Slack launches dark mode for macOS, Windows and Linux

Slack introduces a new dark mode for desktop versions of his workplace chat app. The new Dark Mode option for the desktop will now be available on all platforms, allowing Windows, MacOS and Linux users to move away from the traditional bright theme still available on Slack.

Slack activates the dark variants of all the themes of the existing sidebar and adds its own dark-mode theme "Nocturne", which can be set both on the desktop and on the mobile. The dark office mode comes several months after the release of the same feature on iOS and Android versions of Slack earlier this year.

"Dark mode is an important feature for many people," says George Zamfir, accessibility product manager at Slack. "It's useful for working at night or in dim light, and we know that many need it for accessibility reasons, such as visual impairment, migraines, or other eye disorders."

You will need to update or relaunch your Slack desktop app to search for new dark mode options in the themes section of the settings.
