Sleater-Kinney has promised to release a new album produced by St. Vincent this year. They have now officially announced this album. This is called The center will not hold and it came out on August 16th via Mom + Pop. They also shared a new song called "The Future Is Here" – listen and see the list of titles and album art below. The album contains the single "Hurry on Home" previously shared.

Sleater-Kinney goes on tour in October. Find their schedule here and buy tickets here. (Pitchfork can earn a commission on purchases made through affiliate links on our site.)

"We had always planned to go back to the studio, it was just a matter of time," Carrie Brownstein told NPR earlier this year, confirming Annie Clark's participation in the new album. "If this album has a fundamental principle, it is that the tools we have relied upon have proved inadequate. So we searched for new ones, metaphorically and literally.

The band's last studio album was 2015 No city to love. Last year, St. Vincent covered Sleater-Kinney's "Modern Girl". Clark and Brownstein collaborated on a series of surrealistic short films.
