Slipknot shares video tribute to late founding drummer Joey Jordison

Slipknot paid tribute to drummer Joey Jordison on Friday, just days after the founding member died suddenly at the age of 46.

The metal band posted an eight-minute tribute video to Jordison on YouTube, featuring footage of the drummer on stage and in interviews, as well as behind-the-scenes clips and home videos of Jordison without a mask.

As Jordison, who wrote several of Slipknot’s greatest hits, puts it in an interview, “Every person who has bought one of our records, because our music is so personal, I have something in common with each of us. between them.

“I never studied songs; I just messed up with that, ”Jordison said in another excerpt from an interview. “I’m basically self-taught on this. I never really played on any song, I just wrote riffs at a young age.

“Our hearts go out to Joey’s family and loved ones at this time of tremendous loss,” the group wrote in the description of the video. “The art, talent and spirit of Joey Jordison could not be contained or withheld. Joey’s impact on Slipknot, on our lives and on the music he loved is untold. Without him there would be no us. We mourn his loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey.

Jordison, Slipknot’s drummer from 1995 to 2013, died “peacefully in his sleep” on Monday, his family said in a statement. No cause of death has been revealed.

“Joey’s death left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sadness,” Jordison’s family added. “To those who knew Joey, included his quick wit, gentle personality, giant heart and love for all things family and music.
