High school students from Trebišovská passed the international competition Junior Achievement – Best Student Company of the Year 2018 in Belgrade, Serbia
Their training company Ala Rasi is ranked among the top ten companies with SafeStep for pedestrian protection. The students Kristián Tomčo, Marcel Buday, Bohus Cup, Aleš Melichar, directed by teacher Jana Vodarčíková, participated in the competition of more than 200 students from 39 countries of the world.
Safe Step are two LED pillars at the beginning and end of the pedestrian crossing. Both are equipped with a thermal and ultrasonic sensor, which detects pedestrian access to the transition. If the transition is free, the diodes are green, if the signal is interrupted between the sensors, it turns red. The energy supplies the battery to the light source and, alternatively, photovoltaic cells are available. Krupina and Košice were interested in the product.

] Winner of the award and title Best Student Company of the Year 2018 SureLight of England, who has developed intelligent braking lighting on bicycles. With integrated SureLight motion sensors, SureLight can detect when a cyclist is braking and warning other road users to keep cyclists safe.
An international jury consisting of representatives of major international companies, such as AT & T, the Citi Foundation, Facebook, FedEx and Manpower Group, decided to award the award. Student companies have been evaluated on the basis of a business plan, an annual report and commercial presentations. These included an interview with a private panel, a public presentation and an interview on a booth. "We have gained a lot of experience, introduced new people and received very positive feedback about our product, we are doing together to save lives in the corridors," said Kristián Tomčo of the Trebišovská Grammar School in Košice.

Students create student businesses as part of the JA applied economics training program. This oldest Junior Achievement training program was set up in 1919 and is attended by more than 300 students per year in nearly 40 countries across Europe.
Ala rasi will compete in the international finals after winning the TOP 6 JA Firiem final, which has been advanced by the top six companies from all over Slovakia. The final final was preceded by JA's Business Talent Fair 2018 which was held in Bratislava with the participation of almost 50 JA Firi
