Bratislava, July 26 (TASR) – Diarrhea is the most common illness among travelers. "The path of climate change, regime change, regime change, but also the possibility of contamination of food and water by some bacteria has its share" said spokesperson of the Public Health Service of the Slovak Republic, Daša Račková.

In addition to "traveler's diarrhea", holidays can be irritated by diarrhea caused by salmonella, shigella, certain parasites, a virus causing hepatitis A, a virus responsible for cholera "These diseases can be prevented by hygienic measures aimed at strict personal hygiene – hand hygiene, water and food," says Račková.

Epidemiologists recommend avoiding unusual foods and consume, do not consume ice cream, juice and unpasteurized milk. Avoid using it as well as eating ice cream unless it is guaranteed to have been prepared from boiled or safe water. An extended stay in a danger zone is recommended for people who travel before traveling abroad to protect themselves against cholera, hepatitis A and abdominal fatigue.

In case of diarrhea, it is very important to receive liquids and salt. Special rehydration solutions are sold in pharmacies. A similar solution can also be prepared from sugar (4-5 cubes), cooking salt (1 teaspoonful), lemon juice, orange juice or grape juice (for 1 liter drinking water). It is also possible to use ionic drinks for athletes, but not for children, mineral waters rich in sodium and potassium. Also suitable for unsweetened black tea
