ZÁHREB. At the age of 70, one of the most popular singers of the former Yugoslavia, Oliver Dragoevich, died.
Croatian media reported that Dragoevich died Sunday morning at Splite hospital. He was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago.
Dragoevich had a huge success in the former Yugoslavia thanks to his romantic tube singing in a typical dialect of Dalmatia.
He was also very popular in Serbia, where he refused to give a concert after the war for the independence of Croatia in 1991-95
