The English musician Elvis Costello announced on Friday that he had canceled the last six concerts of his current European tour. He did it on the recommendation of doctors to recover properly after surgery to remove a "very aggressive" malignant cancer.
The musician underwent surgery in May and decided to continue his June concerts. "The postoperative guidelines for this procedure recommend three to four weeks for recovery depending on whether you return to work at a table or that you have to work physically or travel," Costello said in a statement that it was difficult to estimate how long that took.
At the end of June, he thought he could become "normal" again, but the situation worsened again. "Now I have to accept that it will take more time than I want, so I have to reluctantly cancel all the remaining obligations of this tour," he added, recommending that fans consult a doctor if they suspect their health. .
The canceled concerts were in English Manchesteri, Croatian Pula, Graz and Vienna, Tysnes in Norway and Swedish Rattvik. The musician also announced that he will release his new album in October with his band The Imposters
