The American rival Rivian founded in 2009 a graduate of the well-known MIT co-directed research university, RJ Scaringe. Startup worked on the development of its technologies and electric vehicles until last year. And today, he has presented the first truly impressive result of his work.
Genuine offroad
Rivian R1T is a full electric pickup with 5 seats. It has a length of almost 5.5 meters and a wheelbase of 3.45 meters. Its height can vary from 20 to 36 cm. It is able to overcome water obstacles with a depth of 1 m. The payload of this futuristic practitioner is 800 kg. It has a pulling force of 5,000 kg and offers a lot of storage space (see photos).

3 additional versions
Its four compact motors with a power of 147 kW propel each wheel separately. The total performance of the Rivian R1T sensor can be configured at different levels. And this is done using the gearbox. Each of the three available versions will offer a different performance.
The basic version with a 105 kWh battery and a mileage of 370 km according to the realistic cycle of the EPA has an output power of 300 kW (560 Nm). The average version with a battery of 135 kWh and a drive of 480 km achieves the highest performance, with 562 kW (1,120 Nm), and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in about 3 seconds. The higher version with a dead battery of 180 kWh and a range of 640 km runs at 522 kW (1,120 Nm).

Rivian R1T supports high speed charging of 160 kW. This is not a small problem, but because of the huge batteries and the start of the construction of charging stations with power up to 350 kW, this could be more. The built-in power plug charger has a power of 11 kW.
Deliveries and prices
Rivian R1T is now available for $ 1,000. The first customers are expected in 2020. It will be sold $ 69,000 (about 60,000 €). Initially, however, only the most expensive versions will be available. Rivian is also preparing an electric SUV. If this comes out of the recovery, we have something to hope for.

Tesla is the best
As we recently informed you, Tesla has changed its priorities in terms of reallocating internal resources to future products. It has significantly improved the planned pickup. It has the second highest priority in the automotive division while it is only a compact SUV, model Y.
Despite the extreme parameters of the Rivian R1T pickup, Tesla Pickup should offer even more. However, it should not arrive on the market until 2021.
