Government accepts free meal suggestion for schoolchildren

Beginning next year, children will have free lunch.

Free meals are expected to represent around 517,000 children in schools and crèches by next year, regardless of their founder. The subsidy is fixed at 1.20 euro per child for each day he attended the nursery or primary school and a meal. This follows from the draft amendment to the Ministry of Labor's subsidy law, which came out of the Smer-SD coalition coalition, with which the government also subscribed to Wednesday's comments.

In total, according to the authors of the Lunch Scheme, the state should cost between 80 and 100 million euros. According to the proposal, the founder of a school that did not provide a child's diet and whose state of health requires dietary meals, according to the assessment of the doctor, requires the payment of a subsidy to the parent or the person to whom the court's decision is entrusted in cash.

The members of Smeru-SD have also made changes to the draft, currently in second reading in Parliament. They plan to table in plenary an amendment to change the effectiveness of this measure for each institution.

Children in the last year of preschool will have lunch from January 1st of next year. First and second years of primary school from September of the following year. Cities and municipalities, as well as schools, should therefore have sufficient time to provide technical facilities and possibly supplement the work of the dining room.
